Thank you to all the teams who took part in this years Academy Charity Cup (5-a-side football tournament). The winners were Murphy’s Law who defeated English Rose in the final. Third place went to Saudi Liverpool, beating Sheer Harrisment in the 3rd/4th place playoff.
The winners received £100 to spend at Greenbank, a trophy, the ACC shield (for a year) and each player received a medal. Second place got a trophy and medals, with third place receiving a trophy.
Player of the tournament was Mike Sautell (Rose Athletic). He won a trophy and a 3 month membership to Greenbank’s gym.
The tournament raised in excess of £500, which will be invested in a disability sport called Unihoc. Unihoc is a unique sport that gives young children with a range of disabilities a chance to take part in competitive sport.
A big thank you to Dave Stanistreet for his hard work and effort in organising the tournament and making it the success that it was. Thanks also to the volunteers who gave up their time to assist with the running of the event.
Greenbank Sports Academy provides after school activities for disabled children aged 8 and above, their friends and siblings as part of the ‘School’s In’ programme. The scheme is funded through the Aiming High for Disabled Children programme.

Sports & Activities for the Visually Impaired, Northwest (SAVI) are offering FREE ‘Blind Tennis’ sessions at Greenbank Sports Academy! Starting on Tuesday 1 June at 7pm (for 12 weeks). Suitable for people with visual impairments aged 16+. For more details, email Matt Cliff
