Access toolbar

At the top right of the screen is the web site’s accessibility toolbar, this provides access to the following functions from all pages

Text Size

small text medium size text large text size

The site offers 3 default text sizes (as well as those offered by most internet browsers). They are indicated by the three different sized letters in the boxes shown. Click the box to change the text size. The smallest size is the default size of the web site.

Colours

black on white black on blue black on cream black on yellow white on black

If you do not like the default color scheme you can choose an alternative colour scheme by clicking on one of the coloured buttons with an ‘a’ on it.

Re-sizing Text using your own browser:

Internet Explorer 6

CTRL + Mouse wheel (or Tools > Internet Options > View > Text Size)

Internet Explorer 7/8

Page > Text Size > choose size.

Mozilla/Firefox 2/Netscape

CTRL +/- (or Tools > Options > View > Text Size)

Mozilla/Firefox 3

Go to View > Zoom and click “Zoom Text Only” (Now you can use CTRL +/-)

Safari on a Macintosh

  • Press Cmd and + to increase the size
  • Press Cmd and – to decrease the size
  • Press Cmd and 0 (zero) to go back to the default size

Using Opera

The following keys can be used to navigate headings:

  • S to cycle forwards through the headings
  • W to cycle backwards through the headings

Using recent versions of screen readers

Visitors can navigate using the following keystrokes:

  • H to cycle forwards through the headings
  • Shift + H to cycle backwards through the headings
  • 1 to navigate to the next level 1 heading (or a number between 1 and 6 to navigate to the next heading on this level)
  • Shift + 1 to navigate to the previous level 1 heading (or a number between 1 and 6 to navigate to the previous heading on this level)
  • INSERT + F6 to provide a list of all headings

PDF files

Some of the PDF documents available on our website have been created using a version of Adobe Acrobat. If you have difficulties opening our documents, this may be because you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.

The latest version can be downloaded free from the Adobe website.
