Choices Festival of Disability Sport for Children 2015
The Choices Festival of Disability Sport for Children will take place at Wavertree Sports Park on Wednesday 17 June and more than eight hundred children from Merseyside schools have been invited to take part.
Thanks to funding from Medicash Charitable Trust and Cash for Kids we are able to organise this fantastic event.
Sports available will include athletics, basketball (wheelchair and running game), polybat, boccia, new age kurling, power football and hockey, table tennis, seated volleyball and football – there’s something for everyone.
Sport Development Manager, Mark Palmer commented:
“Sports participation offers so many potential health and well being benefits including improved self esteem and confidence but so often disabled people are excluded from activities, for many reasons, including lack of equipment and trained coaches. Competition in sport is also vital as it increases motivation and sense of achievement. This event enables disabled children to experience the thrill of taking part and to be recognised for their performance.”
