The consultation will allow users/wider public to have their say on the detailed refurbishment plans for Greenbank Sports Academy. The planned refurbishment has been developed with support from Football Foundation to deliver long-term sustainable sport and leisure provision which gives the best health and wellbeing outcomes for users. The proposed design includes upgrades to:
- Changing Rooms
- New Changing Places Room,
- Shower Areas,
- Accessible Shower/WC’s
- Reception/Office layout
- Entrance Foyer including automatic doors
The investment will support the charities’ strategy and commitment to “Be recognised as an outstanding national, regional and local provider of physical education, sport and leisure with a key focus on providing choice and opportunity for people who have a disability”, and is part of Greenbanks overall ‘Strategic Framework to 2024’. The large-scale refurbishments will be carried out on the understanding that we are successful with a Football Foundation bid and that the charity attracts 20% match funding. Match funding is presently estimated at £35,000.
Mary Beaumont, Chief Executive and Secretary of Greenbank Charity, says:
“We are committed to the health and wellbeing of our community with a focus on providing inclusive environments for all, and a key element to this is to improve our much loved Sports Academy facility, bringing it up to date. With gaining the support of the Football Foundation and being a named site in the local football facility plans, our first step in the process is to ask our community what would help them to be more physically active and specifically what they would like to see in our detailed plans for this phase of our planned Academy refurbishment. We ask people to take the time to view our plans and contribute to this consultation.”
The consultation will be active between 31st January and 11th February 2022.
