New multi-sports club for deaf and hearing impaired people

We have just introduced a weekly multi-sports and physical activities session for deaf and hearing impaired people at Greenbank Sports Academy on Wednesdays from 5 to 6pm. Coached sports / activities on offer include cricket, football, basketball, hockey, circuit training and gym training and it cost just £1 per session.

Organiser, James Dixon who is also a UK Deaf Sport Ambassador and England Deaf International Cricketer said:

“This new club offers deaf and hearing impaired people a great opportunity to enjoy a range of sports and physical activities without the usual barriers to communication. A BSL signer will be present at the session to assist anyone who needs an interpreter.”

Sessions are funded initially for twelve weeks by Sportivate for young deaf and hearing impaired people aged 11 to 25 (although deaf people over 25 are also welcome) but will continue in the autumn as part of the Academy’s Choices for Disability Sport programme.
