Wheelchair Basketball Club receives funding

Liverpool Greenbank Wheelchair Basketball Club (LGWBC) has received a funding boost thanks to players of a charity lottery.

LGWBC was awarded £1905 by People’s Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity, funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The club will use the money to encourage more people to stay involved or take up the sport by:

  • supporting the cost of  weekly wheelchair basketball training session
  • offering fun lunchtime development sessions for young people who study at Greenbank College
  • run have a go sessions to introduce wheelchair sport
  • Assist the club to maintain equipment

Club coach Gerry Kinsella said:

“This support is fantastic and makes a real difference to the work of LGWBC and what we can achieve. We want to help as many people as possible to play this fantastic sport”.

People’s Postcode Lottery is Britain’s charity lottery. Players play with their postcodes to win cash prizes while raising money for good causes.  As a charity lottery, £2 from every monthly lottery ticket charities and community initiatives across England, Scotland and Wales, including People’s Postcode Trust.  People’s Postcode Lottery believes in supporting local communities so the money raised by players in each country, stays in that country.

LGWBC Training Session:

Every Wednesday from 16 January 2013
6-7pm – beginners / have a go session
7-8pm – for those who have some/lots of experience

College Learner Development Session:

Every Monday from 21 January – 11 February 2013
12-12.50pm
