Approximately 20 disabled and non disabled pupils representing St Francis Xavier (SFX) School, Broadgreen International School (IS) and Sandfield Park School took part in the Choices Power Hockey tournament held at Greenbank Sports Academy on Friday 8th July.

Competition was fierce throughout the event resulting in may close games. An exciting final saw Broadgreen IS beat SFX by two goals to one.

Event organiser Steve Sullivan commented:

“Power hockey has been developed by Greenbank Sports Academy as a sport in which disabled and non-disabled players compete equally.

The purpose built electric wheelchair that is used enables players to pass and shoot the ball using a unique, propulsion mechanism. It’s fast, furious and fun.

Power hockey is played at the Academy on Wednesdays from 5 to 6pm. New players welcome.”
