Our Commitment
Greenbank Sports Academy is committed to providing an inclusive, welcoming and accessible environment for everyone regardless of age, disability or additional support needs.
As part of Greenbank Charity, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do and we continually work to remove barriers to participation in sport, physical activity and community life.
Accessible Facilities
At Greenbank Sports Academy we provide the following facilities to support accessibility for all visitors:
- Step-free access throughout the building.
- Fully wheelchair accessible sports and community facilities.
- Accessible parking spaces located close to the main entrance.
- Automatic entrance doors and level access routes throughout the building.
- Accessible toilets throughout the facility.
- Accessible changing facilities and shower provision.
- A fully equipped Changing Places facility including:
- Adult-sized changing bench
- Ceiling overhead track hoist system(2 function) – 200kg Max Load
- Privacy screen
- Height adjustable wash basin. 150 mm single mixer lever tap. 150kg max load
- Electric Shower with fixed shower seat. Adjustable shower head on raiser rail. 5 spray patterns. Clear easy controls for visually impaired.
- Adequate circulation space for carers and equipment
- Reception desk support for visitors requiring additional assistance.
- Seating areas throughout the reception area for rest and recovery.
- Accessible spectator areas for events and activities.
- Lockers and storage areas accessible to wheelchair users and people of varying heights. Lockers require keys available from reception.

Inclusive Sports and Physical Activity
Greenbank Sports Academy delivers a wide range of inclusive and disability sport opportunities including:
- Boccia
- Power Football
- Power Hockey
- Inclusive Cycling
- Wheelchair Basketball
- Inclusive Fitness and Gym Sessions
- Multi-sport activities
- Community wellbeing programmes
Activities are open to disabled and non-disabled participants wherever possible, promoting inclusion through sport.
Accessible Gym Facilities
Our gym includes accessible fitness equipment suitable for a range of abilities and mobility levels, including equipment suitable for wheelchair users and individuals with physical impairments.
Our team can provide guidance and support to ensure all users can exercise safely and confidently.
Quiet and Inclusive Sessions
We recognise that some visitors may benefit from quieter environments.
Where possible we provide:
- Quiet periods within the facility.
- Reduced sensory environments for selected activities.
- Smaller group sessions where appropriate.
- Individual support arrangements following discussion with our team.
Assistance Dogs
Registered assistance dogs are welcome throughout Greenbank Sports Academy.
If you require any additional support arrangements during your visit, please contact us in advance so we can help make your experience as smooth as possible.
Accessible Communication
We aim to provide information in formats that meet individual needs, including:
- Large print documents.
- Electronic copies of information.
- Easy Read materials where appropriate.
- Alternative communication methods upon request.
Staff Training
Our staff team receives training in inclusive customer service and disability awareness and are committed to supporting all visitors with dignity, respect and understanding.
Many members of our team also have extensive experience delivering disability sport and supporting participants with a wide range of access requirements.

We are committed to ensuring our website is accessible to as many people as possible.
We aim to:

- Provide suitable colour contrast and text sizing.
