WNF - ACC Winners

WNF - ACC Winners

Thank you to all the teams who took part in this years Academy Charity Cup (5-a-side football tournament).

The winners were WNF who managed to recover from a poor group stage to eventually defeat Springfield Blue 2-1 in the Final. Third place went to Free Libya, beating Springfield FC in the 3rd/4th place playoff.

Jon Harris (WNF captain) said “A fantastic and well organised tournament enjoyed by everyone who took part. Thanks to all who contributed to a great day of football. We will certainly be back next year to defend our title.”

The winners received £100 to spend at the Time Out Bar, a trophy and the ACC shield (for a year).

Player of the tournament went to Ellis Haizelden (Missunfits), who won a 3 month gym membership at Greenbank.

The tournament raised over £750, with this figure being matched pound-for-pound by Barclays, meaning that the total exceeds £1500! The money raised will be invested into a disability sport called Unihoc. Unihoc is a unique sport that gives young children with a range of disabilities a chance to take part in competitive sport.

A big thank you to Dave Stanistreet for his hard work and effort in organising the tournament and making it the success that it was. Thanks also to volunteers Matt Cliff (and family), Lisa Dunn, James Brady and David Taylor who gave up their time to assist with the running of the event.
