Greenbank Paralympian Gala Dinner at Greenbank Sports Academy!

Greenbank Sports Academy proudly hosted a memorable evening on 6 November 2025, bringing together Paralympians, international athletes, partners, supporters, and community members for the Paralympian Gala Dinner — a celebration of sport, resilience, and inclusion.

The event honoured the achievements and journeys of Paralympians connected to Greenbank and the wider sporting community, many of whom have inspired others through their dedication and success. Guests enjoyed a relaxed and uplifting evening filled with conversation, storytelling, and a shared passion for disability sport and opportunity for all.

An Evening of Stories and Inspiration

The evening was hosted by Ellis Palmer, who guided guests through an inspiring programme of interviews and reflections celebrating the achievements of disabled athletes.

Among the special guest speakers were Abdi Jama, Hannah Cockroft CBE, Nathan Maguire, Roy Turnham, and Marcus Harrison — all of whom have represented Great Britain/England and inspired generations through their performances on the international stage.

Their reflections on perseverance, teamwork, and the importance of inclusive opportunities offered a powerful reminder of the role that Greenbank continues to play in supporting disabled people to be active and achieve their potential.

A Night of Fine Dining and Fundraising

Guests enjoyed canapes and a three-course fine dining experience, prepared and served by our headline sponsor, Soigné Events, supported by local Hugh Baird college students, industry volunteers and sponsored Arc Hospitality agency staff. Brakes also kindly sponsored all the food products. The carefully curated menu set the tone for a sophisticated and welcoming evening that showcased the quality and hospitality Greenbank is known for.

A highlight of the event was the charity raffle and auction, featuring a fantastic range of prizes and memorabilia — including exclusive sports items and framed artwork.

The on-the-night fundraising total reached £11,469.39, with additional donations and pledges still being received in the days following the event. Every contribution will help support Greenbank’s inclusive sport, education and wellbeing programmes — removing barriers to participation and creating new opportunities for disabled people across Liverpool and the wider region.

Celebrating the Spirit of Greenbank

The evening reflected Greenbank’s core values — empowerment, participation, and inclusion.

Guests enjoyed:

  • Inspirational talks and stories from Paralympians and international athletes
  • A professionally served three-course meal by Soigné Events
  • Engaging presentation and interviews hosted by Ellis Palmer
  • A warm welcome from our Greenbank College students working as entrance Hosts and Cloakroom staff

Supporting the Future of Inclusive Sport

Funds raised from the Gala Dinner will directly support Greenbank’s mission to provide accessible, high-quality sport, wellbeing and education opportunities for people with disabilities.

“The Paralympian Gala Dinner reflects everything Greenbank stands for,” said Mark Palmer, Sport Development Manager. “It’s about connection, inclusion, and celebrating the power of sport to change lives. We’re proud to recognise those who inspire others every day — on and off the field.”
