The recent Choices for Disability Sport Regional Games, held at Greenbank Sports Academy on 10th, 18th and 19th July were a great success, attracting over 160 participants from across the region and beyond (including Leicester Conway and Stockport).

The event, which is funded by St James’s Place Foundation and part of the wider Choices for Disability Sports Programme included Wheelchair and Standing Table Tennis, Power Hockey, Football and Boccia as competitive events. Participants also had an opportunity to have-a-go at Paralympic wheelchair rugby.

Boocia tournament organiser Steve Sullivan commented:

“Congratulations to all competitors who took part in a very entertaining, exciting and competitive Boccia tournament. The standard of play was very high culminating in an excellent final between two evenly matched teams that required a tie break after the score finished 6 – 6 after 6 ends.

We would like to extend our thanks to the Club staff for the hard work they have been providing in training the competitors to such a good standard and for ensuring that the players attended on the day. We would also like to thank all the referees who officiated so professionally throughout the day and helped the tournament run so smoothly.”
