As part of our schools’ programme, the sports development team organised an event, earlier this month, to offer young electric wheelchair users an opportunity to try Boccia, Athletics, Polybat and Table Cricket.

Thanks to the assistance of 9 sports students from Liverpool John Moores University, all of the youngsters involved were given a coaching session and the chance to have-a-go at each of the sports on offer.

Choices Merseyside Sport Development Officer Steve Sullivan said;

“There is very little sport available for children who use an electric wheelchair and it’s great that we were able to organise this event.  Pupils from Sandfield Park, Broadgreen International and Woodchurch High Schools took part and really enjoyed the experience.”

Electric wheelchair users can also play Power Hockey at Greenbank Sports Academy most Wednesday evenings from 5 – 6pm. Players should just turn up.
