Liverpool Based Wheelchair Basketball Player Part of European Glory

Abdi Jama in training at Greenbank Sports Academy
Liverpool based wheelchair basketball player Abdi Jama was part of the GB team crowned European Champions, for the third consecutive time, following a tough final against Turkey, at the event played at the University Arena, Worcester on 6th September.
The closely fought match finished 87 – 66.
Abdi and team mate Ade Orogbemi (now based in Italy) have a close connection with Greenbank Sports Academy, where both have trained regularly for the past 15 years.
Sport Development Manager Mark Palmer commented:
“It’s fantastic to witness the success of Abdi, Ade and the whole GB team. They are fantastic role models for disability sport and always help us to promote the activities that we offer locally for disabled people. This was a fantastic win and builds confidence in the lead up to Rio next September.”
