Schools Athletics Championships 2016
One hundred children representing Sandfield Park School, Merefield School and Woodchurch High School took part in the Physical Disability (PD) / Severe Learning Disability (SLD) Athletics event held at Wavertree Sports Park and organised by Greenbank Sports Academy on Wednesday 4th May 2016.
Organiser Steve Sullivan said:
“This event offered a great opportunity for all of the children to participate in a number of track and field events. There was a great atmosphere and everyone seemed to have a fantastic time.
There were notable performances from Charlie Owens a pupil at Merefield school who won the male 100m finals in a time of 17.1 seconds and Sophie Moran from Sandfield Park School who took the female title in 21.1 seconds.”
Jo Ashcroft from Merefield School added:
“The Merefield gang had a wonderful time, it’s days like this that our pupils remember.”
Steve also acknowledged the support provided to make the event happen:
“We would like to thank staff from Wavertree Tennis centre for their support throughout the day, plus sports leaders from Broadgreen International School and individual volunteers and officials who made everything run so well.”
