
Schools Athletics Championships
Over 270 disabled children from 11 schools across Merseyside took part in the PD/SLD Athletics Championship, held at Wavertree Sports Park and organised by Greenbank Sports Academy, on Thursday 14th May 2015.
The event offered a great opportunity for all of the children to take part competitively in a number of track and field events.
A notable performance came from Josh Lewis from Palmerston School (Liverpool) who won the male 100m Final in a time of 13.7 seconds.
In the female 100m final there was a three way close finish between Erin Campbell and Megan Verdin, both from Palmerston School and Keitlyn Jackson from Woodchurch High School (Wirral). Erin Campbell received the gold medal with a time of 18.0 seconds.
Other gold medallists included Matty Rawson, Merefield School (Sefton ) who threw the 600g javelin 18.2m and Kelsey Jones, Sandfield Park School (Liverpool) who won the Bean Bag Target with a maximum score of 56.
Organiser Steve Sullivan praised the volunteers who made the event possible:
