It’s been a busy week for cricketers at events organised by Greenbank Sports Academy and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Day Support Centres’ Tournament 2nd June
Congratulations to all teams who took part in the event which was held at Greenbank Sports Academy (due to waterlogged pitch at Alder Cricket Club). Players representing Active Me, Dunningsbridge and Oakfield played well throughout the day.
Active Me and Oakfield reached the final, with the teams evenly matched. Active Me were the eventual winners, beating Oakfield by two runs (185 v 183)
James Cutt, Disability Cricket Development Officer, Lancashire Cricket Board commented:
“There were some great games throughout the day which was a tremendous achievement for all players, considering this was their first taste of competitive cricket.
Schools’ Tournament 4th June
Sunshine and blue skies made it possible to play the Schools’ Tournament at Alder Cricket Club. Approximately 130 children, representing Sandfield Park School, Princes Primary School, Mill Green School, Woodchurch High School, Meadowside School , Aigburth High School and West Kirby Residential School took part in a fantastic day’s cricket.
Steve Sullivan, Choices Development Officer said:
“Skill levels were high this year which reflects the effort of the children and staff involved.
A big thank you all the players, teachers, umpires from ECB , individual volunteers, umpires/staff at Alder Cricket Club who made this event so successful. Also thanks to James Cutt (Disability Cricket Development Officer, Lancashire Cricket Board) who provided funding for this event.
